Actor’s Film Roles Have Caused Many Foot and Ankle Injuries

Written by

In an interview with Australian radio station Nova FM, the recently turned 50 actor Russell Crowe confessed that despite his heroic roles, in real life he happens to not be so invincible.  During his interview, Crowe has been cited saying, “At 49, I find it a bit difficult to run these days. I have grade four tears in both Achilles, I have shin splints, no cartilage in the toes in my right foot, I’ve got bone marrow edemas in under my knees, and I have one degenerating hip…”

Although Crowe has endured his share of painful injuries, he was able to jest about it towards the end of his interview. Crowe said he has been “...picking up injuries since 184 A.D.,”

Working on Your Feet

Standing on your feet for long periods of time can cause stress and pain in your feet. Your whole body may experience change in terms of posture, back pain, bunions, callouses and or plantar warts. There are ways to avoid these conditions with proper foot care, smart choices and correct posture.

Positive Changes

Negative heeled shoe – choosing this shoe places the heel slightly lower than the ball of the foot. These are great for overall foot health. Find shoes that fit you correctly.

Go barefoot – our feet were not designed to be enclosed for hours, or all day. Allow yourself to expose your feet.

Eliminate Pain

Foot Exercises – performing simple exercises, incorporating yoga and stretches is beneficial. This will allow increased blood flow to the area and muscles of the foot.

Achilles tendon – stretching the foot out flat on the floor, will relax the calf muscles and tendon. These exercises can be performed almost anywhere. Make sure you add these exercises to your daily regimen.

Keep your feet healthy and your body will thank you for it.
