Every Day Foot Care

Everyday, our feet are a great importance in our lives. However, we tend to neglect them. It can cause significant trouble when this becomes a habit. Ignoring foot problems can cause expensive doctor’s visits, limited mobility, and pain. If feet are cared for and looked after each day, however, they will perform without pain or complication.

The most basic way to care for the feet is routine hygiene. Everyday, wash and dry them thoroughly. Remember to clean in between your toes, and keep the toenails trimmed and short. Using moisturizer is key if you feel your feet feel dry or one can see visual signs of dryness or cracking.

Avoid applying moisturizer between the toes when using moisturizer on the feet. It can cause the development of fungi and bacteria if creams sit in that area. It can also cause the skin to macerate between the toes when moisturizer is used.

An important aspect of foot care to consider is footwear. Make sure they are the correct size when picking them out. Shoes need to feel snug, but not too tight. However, if a shoe is too loose, they can cause problems as well. If it recommended that shopping for shoes to be done later in the day, because the feet will have settled and swelled to their full size by then. Avoid wearing high-heels or flip-flops too often to keep your feet at their healthiest. Choose shoes that are good for your feet instead, that pad the soles of your feet and support the arches and ankles.

When closed-toe shoes are worn, socks should be worn as well. While they may feel hot during the summer, they absorb sweat and moisture to keep it off the feet. The build up of sweat in a closed-toe shoe without socks can cause fungi problems and athlete’s foot.

Remember that shoes make a difference in your every day foot care. Make sure that your shoes show no signs of wear and offer support for the arches and overall foot. Additionally to your daily routine, make sure you thoroughly clean your feet. Your feet will stay healthy and safe if you keep these things in mind.
